Owners of a Falmouth pasty shop have applied for a licence to sell alcohol from the premises.
The licence would allow the Oggy Oggy Pasty Shop in Arwenack Street to serve alcohol every day between the hours of 8am and 10pm.
Falmouth Town Council gave its backing to the application after a short debate.
Councillor for Trescobeas ward David Saunby said: "I'm not happy with it at all, I mean there's no need."
Councillor for Penwerris ward Anna Gillett, on the other hand, said: "There's no legal reason we should turn it down and our moral reasons don't come into it."
It was proposed that the application be recommended for approval as long as staff are trained to apply the challenge 25 policy when serving alcoholic drinks.
