Cornwall Hospice Care is returning for the fifth time to hold its annual reflection event ‘In memory’ at Trebah Gardens.

This event offers people the opportunity to remember loved ones in the peaceful surroundings.

To write a personal message of remembrance, attach it to bright pink gerbera and place it on the handmade wicker raft, which is in the shape of an open lotus flower.

With some gentle background music played by classical guitarist, David Hayes, and the sound of the sea, the raft is rowed gently away.

Clare Bray, Tribute and In Memory Fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care says: “After a walk down through the stunning garden, people reach the beach at the bottom where we hold our Reflections event.

“Last year the sun shone, and it was a lovely and very moving afternoon where people gathered together to remember their loved ones with friends and family.

“The raft looks amazing when it is fully covered with flowers, and our thanks go again to the team at Koru Kayaking for coming to tow the raft.

“We hope that people will be able to join us on the beach to personally put their message on the raft, however, if you are unable to be there on the day, please let me know in advance and I will make sure your message is included on the day.”

Cornwall Hospice Care will be holding two reflection events this year, with the other taking place at Polkerris Beach near Par on June 9.

Clare adds: “As with all our in-memory events, everyone is welcome to attend, loved ones being remembered do not need to have been cared for by Cornwall Hospice Care.

“Your donation will help us to continue caring for people living in Cornwall with a terminal illness and their families.”

The event will be sponsored by W J Beswetherick & Son Funeral Directors and will be held on Sunday June 16 from 4pm onwards, when entry to Trebah is free.

Once people have added their messages, the raft will float at approximately 5pm.
