A cyclist has reportedly been assaulted by four men pushing a shopping trolley.

Police have now launched an appeal to find anyone who saw what happened.

The incident was reported to have taken place between 8.30pm and 9pm on Thursday (May 23), at Garras Wharf off Morlaix Avenue.

The victim, a man in his 40s, is said to have been riding a bike when he was approached by four men, who pushed a shopping trolley towards him.

After shouting at him, the men then punched and kicked the victim.

He was forced to go to hospital to be checked over, due to his injuries.

A police spokesperson said: “The four men left the area on foot in the direction of the piazza area.

"We’re keen to speak to anyone who saw the group running in that direction or in the area at around 9pm.

“We’re also keen to speak to two men who may have witnessed the incident, and who assisted the victim at the scene.

"They left prior to police arrival but may have information vital to our investigation.”
