After two years as mayor of Porthleven Andrew Wallis has passed on the chain of office.
One of his final acts as mayor was to present council clerk Corrie Thompson with a town plaque. Describing it as "a total shock," she thanked Mr Wallis and the town councillors of past and present, saying it had been a "privilege" working with them all.
In turn, the first task for incoming mayor Bev Plunkett was to present Mr Wallis with a town plaque also.
In his retiring speech, Mr Wallis described it as a "great honour and privilege" to be mayor of his home town for two years, adding that it was an experience that would be "very hard to beat"
He said: "Porthleven has a fantastic community spirit, with so many wonderful organisations and groups who help make Porthleven the special place it is.
"As the mayor I have witnessed first-hand the amazing work these organisations and groups do."
He listed the visit of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall to Porthleven, only weeks after he became mayor, as a particular highlight, as well as the progression of the Bickford-Smith Institute renovation project.
Mr Wallis paid tribute to the help and guidance of town clerk Corrie, the support of his deputy mayor Bev and the "boundless energy and cheerfulness" of town warden Carol Jewell.
He also thanked the councillors during his time as mayor, past and present, saying: "I could not wish for a more dedicated group of people who go above and beyond to help make Porthleven the special place it is.
"We have achieved so much together, sometimes in difficult and challenging circumstances."
Finally he praised the people of Porthleven, telling them: "We live in a special place and you make it special."
