Police officers carrying Tasers were called to a Falmouth beach this afternoon over reports of a 'stabbing.'
The incident was said to have taken place at Swanpool Beach at around 1pm, leading to the specialist police team being scrambled.
Witnesses said they had heard sirens close to the beach.
However, after a search of the area nothing could be found.
A police spokesperson said: "We received a call of a stabbing in the area and as per our force protocol, Taser carrying officers were given the greenlight to attend along with emergency services.
"Following an area search and enquiries with businesses and members of the public close to the reported scene, it appears that this call was false, and no such incident has taken place."
