Mawgan Church had a heart of gold over the weekend when it staged its seventh daffodil festival.

Held biennially, the festival is a feast of colour and fragrance, with more than 7,000 daffodils arranged in displays around every corner of the church and outside.

More than 1,200 people had visited St Mawgan-in-Meneage Parish Church by Sunday night, with yet more seeing the displays on Monday.

Musicians from the area played over the course of the three days, including Christine Robertson playing dulcimer and singing medieval and folk music on all three days, Cornish singers on Saturday afternoon, classical guitarist Richard Collington on Sunday and Monday and the Maen Voes Choir from St Keverne and Andrew Woods playing organ on Sunday afternoon.

There were also paintings, photographs and embroidery with a daffodil theme, a range of craft stalls and the chance to see equipment used in the production of daffodils more than 50 years ago.

Once again the flowers were donated by the festival's main sponsor, RH Scrimshaw and Sons from near Manaccan,

On Sunday a Celtic Worship service took place in the early evening, taken by the Rev Mike North and the Rt Rev Philip Mounstephen, Bishop of Truro.

At the start of his sermon, the bishop congratulated the church on the festival and also on the 2017 restoration of the building.

The lessons were read by Wendy Bailey and the organ was played by Andrew Woods.
