Door staff at Mangos in Falmouth have been accused of "bullying" following an alleged incident this weekend.

A patron of the nightclub claimed that the security team were unnecessarily violent towards a group of people they were trying to remove on Saturday night.

In a social media post, the woman claimed that bouncers punched, stomped on and threw people down the stairs.

The post read: "Tonight, I witnessed the most disgusting, violent, unnecessary behaviour from the bouncers at Mangos.

"They have to do their jobs, sure, but this was completely blown out of proportion and none of it was dealt with properly.

"I, among many, watched A LOT of innocent people get hurt. Punched, stomped on and thrown down stairs (to name a few), hurting both men and women mostly just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or just from simply being against their behaviour. People were also taken into their private room, and claimed that they were subsequently beaten up in there.

"The worst thing is that they seemed to be laughing about it at the end, and blowing kisses to a girl they randomly picked on and handled inappropriately."

The Packet contacted a representative of the nightclub, who said that their version of events differs from what was said in the post.

Geoff King from Mangos said: "Following posts on social media regarding an alleged incident at Mangos, we feel it necessary to provide further information.

"We have contacted Devon and Cornwall constabulary who at this present moment have not received any complaints regarding last night's events.

"Door staff tried to remove a group of males who refused to leave. Bystanders tried to get involved which didn't help the situation.

"By law we have to provide CCTV on request by the police and we have downloaded all cameras that might be needed if a complaint is made.

"We cannot give any more information out regarding any alleged event in case a police investigation is required.

"We would like to mention that our version events differs from the events circulating on social media.

"We are a family run independent business and those family values are important to us. We always try to provide a safe and friendly environment for people to have a good time."

Steve Hawkins from Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that two incidents were reported and are being investigated.

A statement from police said: "Police are investigating two reported assaults in a nightclub on Church Street, Falmouth between 11:30pm on 15 December and 12:30am on 16 December.

"In the first incident a 25-year-old man is alleged to have sustained slight injuries after being punched and stamped on.

"In the second incident a 19-year-old woman is alleged to have been thrown down some stairs. No injuries are reported.

"Police investigations for both incidents are ongoing."
