His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent, KG presented The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2018 to Watson-Marlow Limited yesterday.

The award to the firm, based on Falmouth Business Park on Bickland Water Road, was originally announced on the Queen’s 92nd birthday in April this year. The award recognises the company’s development of its Qdos pump technology the world’s first self-contained, chemical metering pump.

His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent, KG in his capacity as Her Majesty the Queen’s representative, visited Watson-Marlow to present the commemorative award. He was introduced to company representatives and given a short tour of the extensive manufacturing facilities in Falmouth.

The Duke of Kent also celebrated the opening of the new council offices and re-furbished library at the Passmore Edwards building in Camborne yesterday. 
The Duke arrived in the newly landscaped rear courtyard where he was greeted by the Mayor, David Wilkins, the Mayor’s Consort, Mrs Brenda Wilkins and Town Clerk, Amanda Mugford. 
Students from St Meriadoc’s CE Infant School joined the celebrations by waving the Town Flag whilst members of Camborne Youth Band played an ensemble of Cornish music.
The Duke met clients from Kehelland Horticultural Trust, which supplied plants and planters for the Courtyard, as well as representatives of Camborne RFC, Beacon CC and the Friends of Beacon Park who have all welcomed the Town Council’s acquisition of playing fields from Cornwall Council through devolution.
