A PENRYN couple braved the grotty weather to host a barbecue in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
Terry and Jill Burns (nee Allen), enjoyed the gathering with family and friends at their Permarin Road home, despite it raining on their parade.
Terry first laid eyes on Jill many moons ago when she rode passed him on a drop handled bicycle.
At that moment he promised himself that one day he would "marry that girl".
They later met each other for the first time at the Old Falmouth Dance Hall, near Kimberley Park. On August 9, 1958, they married.
Terry, who grew up in Penryn, and Jill, who is originally from Falmouth, have five children - Chris, Alan, Sharon, Kim and Teresa.
They have given them 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The Burns family is very well known in the Penryn and Falmouth area.
Michelle Burns, wife of Chris, added: "I was lucky enough to have married in to the family last year, which is an honour and I am very proud to carry the name of Burns."
