Devon & Cornwall Police has been working to disrupt any criminal activity en route to the Boardmasters 2018 festival.
Four officers from Cornwall were deployed to Paddington Railway Station on Wednesday to assist British Transport Police in monitoring Boardmasters Festival goers onto the special London to Newquay Trains.
Local police officers working alongside officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA), accompanied by a drugs dog (Marley), met festival goers as they arrived at Newquay Railway Station.
Supt. Ian Drummond-Smith said, “Sadly, all festivals attract some organised criminality. Last year we arrested 22 drug dealers at the event and again this year, we aim to prevent drug dealers, thieves and pick pockets reaching the event by positioning officers at railway stations and on the road network into the festival site.
“We also target drivers without licence, insurance and un-roadworthy vehicles. Together, this ensures that ordinary festival goers can enjoy a safe festival”.
Results of these ongoing operations will be released when we have them.
