On Saturday (July 14), the people of Penryn took to the streets to celebrate this year's Penryn Carnival.

Town Crier Jim Henderson led the procession from the Rugby Club at 6.30pm through the town.

There was all manner of fancy dress on display, from fat suits and samba dancers to the 'water babes' and even a group of suffragettes.

Saturday's carnival and Sunday's street party capped off a whole range of events marking this year's Penryn Week.

Some highlights of the week include the sports evening on Monday where young athletes competed in the egg and spoon race, sack race and three legged race.

John Kirby led a heritage walk from Penryn Town Hall, there was an arts and crafts session for under fives and the Deputy Lieutenant of Cornwall Nicholas Trefusis gave a history talk on Monday.

Wednesday's festivities included an adult colouring session, a bingo night and euchre drive and an open evening at Penryn Museum.

On Thursday, adults and children painted rocks to decorate the town with, and there was choir singing and an exhibition from the Penryn Camera Club.

The Friday Market offered fresh local produce before the quiz night at the football club.

Before the parade set off from the rugby club on Saturday, there was a community fun day organised by Penryn RFC, and the Soul Sensations played a gig on College Field after the carnival.

On Sunday, a street party took over the town from 3pm to 5pm before the mayor held a civic service with the RNLI on Exchequer Quay, and a bingo night at Temperance Hall book-ended the week's festivities.
