As the build-up to its third edition begins, Sea Change Festival has announced a major partnership with pioneering arts organisation, Dartington Hall.

The partnership will start an ambitious new chapter for the festival, as the deftly-curated event expands into the historic Dartington estate near Totnes.

Full details will be revealed as the festival approaches, but Dartington will become the festival’s new "main stage", hosting music until late and with a larger capacity than previously possible at Sea Change.

Dartington’s internationally-renowned Schumacher College will create a special programme of workshops and inspirational learning experiences, based on nature and ecology, amid the beautiful surroundings of the estate

The partnership will also see culinary contributions from Dartington's new director of food and drink, Oliver Rowe and a collaboration with the head chef of Riverford's esteemed Field Kitchen, Patrick Hanna.

Founded by Totnes’s innovative and much-loved record shop, Drift Records, Sea Change Festival finds its way into multiple venues in the town, attracting a disproportionately brilliant line-up to a new festival in the Devon hills.

Running over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, the festival presents extremely special music guests, panel talks, films and events in the beautiful Barrel House Ballroom, 15th century St Mary's Church, 1960s Civic Hall, restored Victorian Totnes Cinema, two micro-breweries and other small spaces – all now joined by Dartington. While music is well and truly to the fore, Sea Change will also feature specially-created guest beers and a beer festival.

Rupert Morrison, founder of the Sea Change Festival, says: “Sea Change 2018 reignites a long-standing friendship between Dartington Hall and Totnes, glowing in the embers for nearly one hundred years - built on common interest in art, literature, artistic expression, nature, community and, perhaps most importantly, the pushing of boundaries. For the first time we’ll be able to offer a large-scale space where everyone can congregate and party long into the night. As people who grew up in the area within the orbit of the Dartington College of Arts, we can testify that Dartington truly knows how to throw a party.”

Amy Bere, Director of Arts at Dartington, says: “We’re really excited to be able to support this flourishing festival alongside our programme of live arts and the world renowned Dartington International Summer School & Festival. Sea Change’s vision and creative values very much align with our own commitment to musical excellence and creative curiosity.”
