The generation gap was well and truly bridged when members of Mawnan WI held their first cake, chat and company afternoon tea on a wet Saturday.

Mawnan Rainbows and Brownies provided the entertainment, with an amazing range of talents on show including singing, dancing, playing musical instruments and telling jokes as well as some impressive gymnastics. The audience had to be warned not to try the moves out at home.

Afternoon tea, provided by Mawnan WI, was then served and everyone sat down to enjoy a good chat. "It was a lovely occasion bringing together the generations and giving the opportunity to make new friends," said WI member, Gill Druce.

The idea for the event arose originally from a WI national campaign and it is now hoped to make these occasions a regular feature of the village calendar.
