Students across all year groups at Falmouth School were given a treat this week when they were visited by globally famous acapella singing group The Swingles.

The five time Grammy Award winning seven piece have recently helped produce part of the soundtrack for the upcoming Hollywood film Downsizing.

The group came to Falmouth work with students as part of the singing without a safety blanket module, to help students with singing confidence and some more technical coaching points. Students would have been aware of some of the bands well-known hits, such as Libertango, Summertime and After the Storm.

The band are back on the road later this month, as they travel Europe before heading to America and Asia later in the year, before returning to the UK for more shows.

It was a rare and exciting opportunity for the Falmouth School students, to spend time and take points from a musical artist of such stature. Head of music Matt Fox pointed out how hugely beneficial the visit will be for the students.

“We have so many talented musicians and performers at Falmouth School, so to get this kind of opportunity from such globally successful professionals will make a massive difference moving forwards,” he said.
