The clerk to Feock Parish Council, Debra Roberts, has received a prestigious award from her professional body.

The Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC), which represents the clerks to over 5,000 town, parish and community councils in England and Wales, has recognised Debra for her inspirational article about the Feock community transport scheme and Feock Trails footpath projects.

At its recent national conference, Debra's work won her recognition for what was heralded as the best clerk magazine article in 2017 after she came out on top from a shortlist prepared from nominations received from county branches of the society.

In congratulating Debra, SLCC chief executive Rob Smith said: “Debra’s efforts are typical of the excellent work being undertaken behind the scenes by parish council clerks up and down the country to support their elected councillors in effectively representing and serving their local communities.”

Debra said: “It is a privilege to be able to serve the community of Feock parish and I am delighted that the excellent work being undertaken by the parish council on these two projects has received national recognition.”
