Falmouth Rotary Club is inviting local youth organisations to apply for a share of the money raised at this year’s Mawnan Fun Run.

Rod Allday, chairman of the Fun Run committee, presented Paul Wyatt, president of Falmouth Rotary Club, with a cheque for £2,000 which was raised at this year’s event.

Rod said: "The run, which took place on 24th September, was the most successful yet, with nearly 300 runners taking part in the one mile fun run and 5k and 10k races. This year the whole village joined in and various local organisations ran fund-raising stalls and attractions to make it a great community event."

In recognition of the fantastic support received from members of the village community, the Rotary Club will donate up to 50 per cent of the money raised to youth organisations and charities operating within the parish of Mawnan by offering small grants.

Organisations can apply for a maximum of £250 to fund a specific trip, event, activity or piece of equipment and it is hoped that a number of different small projects will be supported.

The application form and criteria can be found on the Mawnan Fun Run website at mawnanfunrun.org.uk/charities and should be submitted no later than February 28. Next year’s Mawnan Fun Run will take place on Sunday, September 30, and online entries will open on June 1.
