A group of Brownies from Budock were treated to juice and cakes when they paid a visit to the council chamber in Falmouth where they were greeted by the mayor, mayoress and town clerk.

The young members of the 3rd Falmouth Budock Brownies were welcomed by Grenville and June Chappel and clerk, Mark Williams, and after a question and answer session, some of them were able to try on the mayor's historic chain of office and carry the council's mace.

The visit was arranged as part of Parliament Week which saw the girls, who are all pupils of St Francis School in Falmouth, look at democracy at grass root level. They took part in a range of activities, which included looking at how to vote and learning about Parliament itself.

The Brownies meet at Budock Village Hall between 5.30pm and 7.15pm every Monday during term time and are hoping to attract some new members and also volunteers who could help out with the running of the group.
