Every pupil at St Francis School in Falmouth recently painted a pebble which then contributed to a unique piece of art which depicted a shoal of fish.

The project was part of the school's annual celebration of St Francis Day which began with a whole school assembly led by year five pupils. The children then spent time taking part in team activities and also painting pebbles to their own unique style.

Class five teacher, Gwyneth Gowing, said: "We have been celebrating St Francis Day by talking about ourselves as individuals, but also how individuals come together as families.

"Each child in each year group has been given a pebble to paint as a fish and they will form part of a big family, a shoal of fish, in a special reflection area in school. It's a very unique piece of art where each child is responsible for their own contribution."

As well as pebble painting, the children also created some self-portraits to show how unique they all are.

Executive head teacher, Claire Fortey, said: "It was a really special day and was a lovely opportunity for us to celebrate our distinctiveness."
