Residents and visitors to Mabe have now raised enough money to buy a second defibrillator for the village which will be installed at the shop and Post Office.

"It may have taken 18 months to complete, but we have now put the necessary £5,700 into Front Line Emergency Trust’s funds to pay for the two units to be installed in Mabe," said Keith Bryant of the Mabe PAD Appeal. "Some events returned very good money, the odd event failed, in part due to the weather in Cornwall every summer."

The final fundraiser was a Sunday cream tea event when, with £75 in donations, the total raised to complete the project of funding two defibrillator units for the village, was £291.45.

"There is a little extra which can now go towards the maintenance costs required each year," said Keith. "A collection box remains in the village shop, for donations to support the annual maintenance costs.

"I would like to thank everyone who helped the village achieve such an excellent result in 18 months of fund raising. We have had many offers of support and donations during our fundraising efforts. Steve Nisbitt at Mabe Stores supported many events, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda each supported a cream tea event this summer.

"Then there are all those who made cakes and splits etc; erected tables and cleared up the hall late in the evening after events; organised raffles and many supporting events. Many thanks to them one and all as without all the help of those volunteers, it would never have been completed."
