Four friends who thought it would be "fun" to cycle all the way from John O'Groats to Land's End are part way through their epic journey.

Tom Carthey, who works for Falmouth Town Council, along with Rick Keefe, Mark Littlejohns and David Crowsley, needed very little persuading to turn their ride into a charity fundraiser after being "ambushed" by ladies from the Pink Wig committee.

The four, who have support on four wheels from Lindsay Keefe, left the Scottish landmark on Friday and are hoping to reach the tip of Cornwall by this Sunday. They are racking up the miles every day, staying in hostels along the way.

On Sunday Tom updated his Facebook page saying: "Eighty-four miles today. Left Inverness arriving in the idyllic Glencoe with some stunning scenery right up in the Highlands. A dry day with some decent riding and a bit of road rage! Now at the Claghaig Inn enjoying some haggis, neeps n' tatties. Tomorrow heading south of Glasgow."

The lads have set themselves a target of raising £200, which will go to the Pink Wiggers' charities - the Cornwall Breast Care Team and Breast Cancer Now. So far £120 has been pledged and anyone wanting to donate and help the cyclists reach, or even smash, their target can do so at justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tom-carthey.

Tom adds: "Please could you help us reach our target of £200 and donate whatever you can and I promise to wear a pink wig from Dartmoor to Land's End."
