Arson is suspected after 16 cars were destroyed in a major fire at a recycling centre in Truro this morning.
Firefighters were called to the Truro Recycling Centre in Newham Road at 4.41am this morning where an area of scrap vehicles were on fire.
Appliances from Truro, Tolvaddon, Perranporth and Falmouth attended the incident. There were fears that the fire could spread to gas bottles on the site before it was bought under control.
Two major pumping appliances from Truro remained in attendance this morning damping down and monitoring hot spots.
