A charitable trust in memory of a mother who died when her car plunged into Stithians Lake is to be set up by the Penryn church with which she worked.

The Highway Church has announced it will create the Hazel Brown Trust in order to allow the young people she cared about to experience adventure.

Mrs Brown, a 29 year old mother of two young children, died on Tuesday, May 16, after her car was involved in a collision before going into the lake.

Now the church, where she worked as a children's play coordinator and co-play leader of Acorns Parent and Toddler Group, has paid tribute to a woman with a "contagious passion for life."

A statement from Highway Church, issued on Thursday afternoon, said: "She inspired children and young people to believe in themselves, and to treat life as an adventure to be lived to the full. Whilst always energetic and passionate, she had a gentle patience and compassion for everyone. Always smiling, she would always see the positive in everyone and every situation, and she had a rare ability to draw the best out of people and face life's challenges head on.

"She lived out a tenacious faith in Christ that was the bedrock of who she was and everything she did. One of her favourite phrases was 'Jesus has got it.' As a church, our faith is just as steadfast, and Lamentations 3:20-24 says 'I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over m loss. yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never end! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself 'The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, i will hope in him.''"

The church is now in the process of forming the Hazel brown Trust, which it says will "encapsulate her vision to allow young people to experience adventure."

The statement concluded: "Supporting the trust would be a great comfort for her husband Ben and their family, who desire to see Hazel's legacy preserved to support the causes closest to her heart during her lifetime.

"Our love for Hazel goes on, as we know her life continues in eternity."

Anyone wishing to donate to the trust can make cheques payable to the Hazel Brown Trust, care of Highway Community Centre, Church Road, Penryn, TR10 8DA.
