Police are appealing for witnesses after a jewellers in Porthleven was the target of a suspected ram raid.

The authorities were called after a holiday maker saw a car driving into the front window of The Jewellery Workshop at St Elvans Courtyard.

The witness is reported to have seen the car hit the front doors of the shop, at around 2.52am last night, before reversing back and hitting it again and again.

Two people are thought to have been involved in the incident, and left in a grey-ish estate car which was later found abandoned and burned out in the Sithney area.

Police believe the two suspects may have gotten into another car at that point to make their escape.

Despite an extensive search officers were unable to find the suspects, and are now investigating.

A forensic examination will be carried out at the scene, and various lines of enquiry are being followed up.

At this time it is not clear what items were taken in the burglary.
