Storm Doris has arrived and despite most areas of Cornwall escaping unscathed, many homes across the area woke up to find they had no power this morning.

Over 2,000 homes were impacted this morning, after power disruptions due to the adverse weather conditions were reported.

Western Power Distribution were battling to get electricity back to those affected, and although many of the problems were fixed, 115 properties are still in the dark.

Visitors to the Isles of Scilly have also been effected, as the stormy weather disrupted flights and people are unable to leave the tranquil location.

But for most of the rest of Cornwall Storm Doris hasn't amounted to much, except wind slightly stronger than usual.

Despite months of worry and several weather warnings, the worst of the weather has failed to arrive.

The county experienced much worse weather with the not-Doris storm we experienced earlier this month, when tempestuous seas battered the South West.

Last night there were blustery winds throughout and a little rain in parts, but many residents of Cornwall awoke this morning to sunshine.

The Met Office put a yellow weather warning in place in Cornwall, which was due to remain in place until 6pm tonight, predicting winds of up to 60mph.

Areas across the rest of the UK are experiencing worse weather conditions, with roads in Scotland closed and flights out of London cancelled.

The weather for Cornwall for the rest of the day is expected to remain dry and sunny, with winds hitting a peak of 16mph at 1pm this afternoon.
