The community of St Erth will be coming together for a celebration of Cornish daffodils in March when they host their Spring Festival.

St Erth Parish Church will be home to various displays of Cornish daffodils which will be on show from March 24 to 26. Money raised from the festival will be split between the church and Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Hayle Friends Group of CHSW have been organising the festival with the church and are involving many people from the community, including St Erth School, the play group, Brownies and other youth groups from the village.

Jill Sharpless a member of the Hayle Friends Group, said: “This will be the first celebration of the Cornish daffodil in the Penwith area. I am delighted to say, because of the generous donation of the daffodils, we shall certainly have ‘A Host of Golden Daffodils’ in St Erth over Mothering Sunday weekend. Please do come and join us for a breath of spring.”

Mary Murfin, community fundraiser for CHSW, added: “This is going to be such a lovely event, celebrating the Cornish daffodils and really bringing the essence of spring to St Erth. We are delighted that we are one of the causes that have been chosen to benefit from the festival and I hope people visit the festival and enjoy what they see.”

The church will be open for the Spring Festival at the following times; Friday, March 24, 11–4.30pm; Saturday, March 25, 10.30-4.30pm; Mothering Sunday, noon til 4.30pm. There will be music and light refreshments each day as well as a craft stall and raffle. Entrance by donation.
