The K9 Crusaders Christmas Fayre and fun dog show were a resounding success raising a little over £500, which will be a great help towards the general running expenses, including the charity's main expense of the dogs' vet bills.

Organisers have said a "huge thank-you" to everyone who supported the two events, including Sonia and Nigel from Zaisan Siberian Huskies who were the show judges and had an unenviable task as there were 160 entries from over 40 dogs.

The winner of best in show was Nova Dee, who had a great day, taking three rosettes in total including winning the Prince Charming class for best male dog. Winner of Santa's Babies, aka best youngster, was Bella Quick an ex-K9 Crusaders resident.

Indie, one of the current K9 Crusaders residents, looking for her forever home, won the Magic Wands, or waggiest tail class. "Indie is a strong-minded dominant character who has made huge progress in her time at the kennels," said Hilary Merton. "She is a very affectionate, active girl who needs athletic owners who won't be a pushover. She is probably best as the only female as she has a tendency to be rather bossy."

If you think Indie could be the dog for you, call K9 Crusaders on 01872 560232 or email k9crusaders@hotmail.co.uk.

The charity's next big fundraiser is Adrian's 12 Dogs of Christmas challenge where one of its volunteers will spend the whole 12 nights from December 17 to Dec 28 sleeping in a kennel with his pooch pals. To find out more or donate go to totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/12dogs.
