The annual Endless Summer Swim hosted by Gyllyngvase Surf Life Saving Club attracted a record turn out when it took place at Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth.

Now in its ninth year, the highly-rated open water swim is a fundraiser for the club and also a great social event for the whole community.

There was a range of races, from a 1,500m for the over 18s, open and masters category; to a 250m race for the eight and nine-year-olds, and all distances in between depending upon age. The sun was shining, the water was relatively calm and the swimmers came in their masses.

Over 200 swimmers took part and early reports show that over £2,000 was raised, with all proceeds going to the life saving club.

The organisers have thanked the event sponsors for making the event possible: Gylly Beach Café, Sessions Surf Shop, Falmouth Townhouse, Saints Screen-printing, Finisterre, Freeriders, Nalu Beads, The Floating Shelf Company, Harbour Lights, Kimberly’s Estate Agents, Absolute Orthodontics Ltd, Webster’s Pools, Skinners Brewery and RNLI Lifeguards.

Matthew Stone, club chairman, says: “Thanks to everyone who helped with the stalls, the water cover and registration. Everyone seemed to very much enjoy it, and it was once again a great event for Falmouth. See you again next year on 24th September.”
