Police are appealing for information following an assault in Truro in June that left the victim requiring hospital treatment.

The incident took place on Saturday, June 25, between 9pm and 9.30pm on St Nicholas Street.

Sgt Marc Sayers, neighbourhood team leader for Truro, said: “We are aware that this incident took place some time ago. This is due to the victim being under such shock and stress that they have only recently been able to open up fully to the police about this matter.

“The victim is a 28-year-old man who stopped to engage in conversation with a group of people he describes as homeless. During this conversation, one of the men in the group has become aggressive towards him and thrust a needle towards the victim.

“In doing so the victim sustained a small puncture wound in the stomach requiring hospital treatment."

The suspect is described as a white male, with dark hair wearing a white shirt. Anyone with any information is asked to email the police at 101@DC.police.uk, quoting crime reference CR/43022/16. You can also give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 55 111.
