Cheers of jubilation were in the air at Camborne Science and International Academy when the sixth form students opened their A level results after a summer of anticipation.

The school is once again celebrating remarkable A level results with 100 per cent pass rate across its range of 23 A level courses, with 58 per cent of grades being A* to B grades or equivalent. Maths and sciences are the most popular choices at A level with students studying maths achieving 83 per cent A* to B and those studying science subjects achieving 62 per cent A* to B. In the vocational subjects, the average grade achieved was a Distinction*.

Principal Ian Kenworthy, said: “It has been an incredible day filled with pride, fulfilment and celebration. The magnificent results are testament to the commitment of our students, who applied themselves to become the best that they can possibly be.

“Our students are a group of highly dedicated and motivated young adults who richly deserve these terrific results. Our goal, is not just to prepare them for exams and university, but also for employment and the real world. They leave our academy as driven, resilient and well-rounded individuals who are set for great things.”

Twenty per cent of students have gained places at the top Russell Group Universities compared to the national average of just eight per cent. CSIA is delighted with many outstanding individual A-level results including Emily Youlton who is going to Birmingham University to read English, and achieved A*,A*, A.

Adam James achieved an A* in maths, A in economics and a Distinction* in business studies and will read financial economics at City University London; Kate Powell achieved A* a grade A in mathematics, and A grades in further maths, physics and geography and will be going to Bath University to read mathematics.

Another impressive set of results were achieved by Ryan Young who achieved an A* in maths and A grades in physics and computing and will be reading electrical engineering at Southampton University; Jake Lasseter achieved A*,A, A in French, chemistry and biology, and will be progressing to medical school at Exeter University; Jessica Bode achieved an A* in biology and maths and a B in physics and will be reading for a MEng in engineering at Cardiff University.

Other students achieving top grades in maths and sciences were Ellie Burridge and Harley Mitchell who both gained three A grades, Joe Baker and Joe Pippa-Harding who gained A* B, B and A*, A, B respectively and Olivia Haase, Rowan Burgess, Isla Symons and Sam James who all achieved A, B, B.

“These results are absolutely fantastic and our students’ achievements must be very warmly congratulated” added Mr Kenworthy. “This year group has also made a very strong contribution to the wider life of the school and we thank them for their goodwill and positive influence across the academy.”
