Marriage takes commitment – and one lucky bride must prove she has that in abundance in order to win the wedding dress of her dreams.

To celebrate the first anniversary of owning the Bridal Studio in Helston, Tara Trethowan has launched a competition that will quite literally put three brides-to-be on a pedestal.

They will be tasked with fashioning their own ‘wedding dress’ out of whatever materials they see best, the more colourful and creative the better, and then modelling their creations in the window of the shop in Wendron Street – for as long as it takes to see off the competition.

During this time they must eat, drink and even sleep in the window as the real-life mannequins battle it out to be the last bride standing.

The brides will have to maintain their post for a minimum of two hours at a time and will be allocated a ten-minute toilet break every four hours.

Their prize at the end is a dress from the Wendy Makin ‘ready to wear’ collection, which allows the bride a degree of input to change elements of the dress to their unique style.

Also part of the prize is wedding make up from professional make up artist Clara Bella Beauty and photography from Joey Lamb Wedding Photographer.

Tara said: “When I bought the business I knew to bring it up to where it needed to be we had to create and develop a brand, and make it a place that brides would love to choose their dress.

“I’ve changed some of the designers, collections and brought in new bespoke designers to offer more input from the brides and sometimes create the perfect dress they've dreamed of as little girls.

“By entering the competition they can 'have their cake and eat it'; create the dress they love and then win a Wendy Makin dress from the 'ready to wear' collection, which again allows input from the bride to create changes of the dress, within limitations.”

Brides can enter the competition via the Bridal Studio website until Monday, September 5 when three winners will be chosen at random and invited to take part.

They will then have four weeks to bring their wedding dress creation to life, ready to wear in the shop window from 9.30am on Saturday, October 15 to be the last bride standing at 5pm on Monday, October 17.

Entrants must be getting married before July 31, 2017 with the wedding taking place in Cornwall.

Full rules and conditions can be found on the Bridal Studio website.
