Falmouth Town Council has relaunch its Weekly Market on The Moor, and is inviting the county's creative, quality craftspeople to get involved.

The Weekly Market, which has been running for over ten years on Thursdays and Saturdays, has been revitalised with seven brand new market gazebos. The gazebos, which are 3m by 4.5m and in Cornish colours, are available to hire for £20 a day to anyone wanting to trade in the heart of Falmouth.

The town's mayor, Grenville Chappel, said: “The Moor has been a market space for hundreds of years, and Falmouth Town Council is keen to keep our market tradition alive and well. With the relaunch of our Weekly Market we hope to encourage more traders to get involved, and continue to grow our markets in the future.”

The gazebos are now available to hire on a month-by-month basis, with bookings taken by events coordinator, Sarah Walker, who has been working with market traders to find solutions to dwindling numbers.

Sarah said: “We really wanted to break down some of the barriers standing between potential traders and our market, and one thing that stood out was the need to supply some of the equipment that traders were having to purchase themselves. This, combined with a new license specifically for The Moor, now means that traders can focus more on their stock and less on the hard work of setting up their market business.”

Market manager, John Wardle, added: “We look forward to welcoming more people to the Weekly Market, and growing our group of interesting, independent traders.”

Whether you’re a craftsperson, existing business, student or collector, Falmouth Town Council wants to hear from you. Cost for trade is £20 for gazebo, and £10 if you have your own gazebo. The Weekly Market on The Moor trades from 9am to 5pm on Thursdays and Saturdays from April through to December.
