Some of the children involved in this year's Mawnan Musical Extravaganza gathered at the village's Memorial Hall last week to hand over the proceeds of the event to a Cornish-based charity supporting a clinic in South Africa.
It was the fourth year the fundraiser had been held in aid of GNHCT (the Global Natural Healthcare Trust) and this time brought in £850 for the charity. The money will be used to support the developments at the GNHCT Clinic near Johannesburg. It is situated on the edge of the Orange Farm settlement and is home to over three million inhabitants many of whom live in abject poverty.
