The staff from The Lounge bar and restaurant chain recently took part in a sporting event which took them from one outlet to another, with them either cycling or running.

On June 21, colleagues cycled from Concho Lounge in Newquay through to Bissoe stopping at Truro Lounge on the way. From there they ditched the bikes and ran the rest of the way to Palacio Lounge on The Moor in Falmouth, raising £765.53 along the way.

The Lounge wanted to support a local charity and fell in love with the work of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). “Helping children who are less fortunate than ourselves inspired us to raise as much money as we could to try and make a difference to their days,” said Joe Hemming, assistant manager at Palacio Lounge.

They wanted to do an event which included colleagues from all three Lounges in the county. The journey was a long and tiring one but they all "had a blast" doing it.

In the evening they held an open mic night at Palacio Lounge to celebrate their achievement when many turned up to show off their musical talents and make further donations to their total.

Joe added: “We smashed our target and the support has been incredible. Thank you to Bissoe Bike Hire for lending us some bikes and to Saint Screens in Falmouth for getting us some fantastic t-shirts.”

The #LoungeAid team recently presented Bernadette Chambers, corporate fundraiser for CHSW, with the cheque for £765.53. She said: “I would like to thank everyone from The Lounge for their hard work in organising and taking part in this event, also to everyone that came along to support them at the open mic night and donated.

"We would love for other businesses to celebrate with us in our 25th anniversary year by holding their own event helping us to raise funds to continue being able to care for and offer support to life limited children and their families.”
