Truro magistrates have ordered the arrest of a teenager from Truro who recently pleaded guilty to exposing herself on a public bench on the city’s Piazza.

Alice Coyle, 19, of Penwethers Lane, Truro, who admits breaching a community order imposed for the offence, did not attend last week’s court for the latest hearing brought by the probation service.

Probation officer Brendan Gough said she was known to be quite chaotic and had said she was not prepared to follow the order in any event.

Coyle’s solicitor Rob Eccleston informed the magistrates that after her original court appearance her defence had thought perhaps she should not have pleaded guilty to the offence, which alleged she intended to cause alarm or distress to others by showing the lower part of her body in public.

Her defence had since requested the Crown Prosecution Service to consider re-opening the matter, putting a different offence to her to which she would plead guilty.
