Members of Mawnan WI and friends opened their gardens to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West and Cornwall Air Ambulance last weekend. After a dull morning, the sun came out and so did the crowds.
Over 250 tickets were sold from the WI gazebo in The Square and nearly everyone managed to come for a Cornish cream tea at the end of the trail where they sat and chatted in the summer sunshine and could buy plants and books.
The gardens featured in this year’s Garden Safari included some new additions and visitors commented on how different each one was and how lovely it was to see and such a wide range of trees, plants and flowers.
Jenny Ragg, president of Mawnan WI, said: “ We were pleased to welcome members from nearby WIs and visitors from across the country and abroad. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard before hand and on the day to ensure the success of the event. We hope to reach a grand total near to £2,000.”
