The 19th annual Mayor of Truro’s Charity Golf Day, organised by the Rotary Club of Truro Boscawen was held last month (May) and was won by a team from Scott Burridge Commercial.

Winners of the Ocean Falmouth BMW Trophy were Carl Jenkin, D Ellis, N Jago and Adam Fry, with a score of 90 Stableford points. In second place with 86 points were Keith West and friends, John Doyle, Chris Stable and Colin Honey; and in third place with 85 points were the Stephen Payne Planning team made up of Stephen Payne, David Corsellis, Jack Corsellis and Shane Cooper.

The Ladies' Trophy was won by Yiamas, - Ann Moyle, Michelle Cowls, Vicki Stevenson and Kathy Bennett. The best visitors team was Cober Valley Rotary's George Curnow, Rachel Curnow, Ian Munday and Jo Munday.

The best seniors team was Lions Tail Twisters - Peter Read, Alan Downie, Alan Chick and Roger Winchester. Mark Naylor and Kathy Bennett were the longest drive winners. Many bottles of malt whisky were won in the putting competition.

The Mayor of Truro, Lorrie Eathorne-Gibbons, and Mick Ryan of CHICKS attended the evening presentation when the mayor presented the prizes. The event raised over £5,500, the highest amount ever for the event, and cheques for the charities Emmaus Cornwall and CHICKS were presented.

The event attracted 37 teams, and the many generous, high profile sponsors, the prize donors, the fine course and the hospitable clubhouse - decorated by Nigel Parris and helpers - all played their part in making the day greatly enjoyed by all and a great success.

Boscawen Rotary Club now looks forward to the twentieth playing of the event on Friday, May 26, 2017.
