When the Packet's entertainments reporter, Natalie Roberts, took a trip to London with her family, she never could have imagined they would end up watching the world premiere of the new Dad's Army film alongside its stars.

Having checked into their hotel overlooking Leicester Square, the family saw crowds were beginning to gather outside the world renowned Odeon cinema and decided to join them, eagerly hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrities starring in the film.

What they hadn't bargained for was that they would soon be joining the stars themselves.

When the 'crowd warmer' approached the family offering them the chance to win some free tickets to the screening, they all joined in singing with him in the hope of winning - and ended up with the chance of a lifetime.

Janice Roberts, Natalie's mum, said: "We couldn't believe we won tickets. I didn't think we'd actually get to see the stars, let alone get seats in the cinema to watch it with them all.

"We kept pinching ourselves because it didn't feel real. It was like a dream."

Once the family had cheered from the barriers, watching the film stars walk up the red carpet, it was their turn to do the same.

David Roberts, Natalie's brother, said: "It was truly unbelievable walking up the red carpet with Catherine Zeta Jones on one side and Michael Gambon on the other. The highlight of the whole evening for me was getting Ian Lavender's autograph."

After the film, the family joined other members of the audience in the foyer to wait for autographs and photos of the film stars.

Natalie said: "It was an incredible evening, something none of us ever thought would happen. My favourite photo from the event was when both of the Pikes, original and new, posed together for me. It captures the fun and spontaneous nature of an unforgettable evening."
