THE daughter of an RSPCA Inspector who went missing trying to rescue Gannets from storm lashed cliffs has paid tribute to her 'amazing' dad.

Writing on Facebook Jenna Reid thanked people for their support but said that her dad Mike was not coming home, ending her post RIP.

Mr Reid, 54. and from Redruth, has not been seen since he went to try and save the gannets stranded on cliffs at Porthchapel Beach, near Penzance, at about 2pm on Sunday.

His wife reported him missing at around 6am on Monday morning. His white van was found at the Minack Theatre car park.

"It pains and breaks my heart too say that my amazing dad will not be coming home," said Jenna in her post. "He was/is the best person I've ever known, my best friend, my hero, my rock. He taught me everything I know, he was the most caring, lovely, kindest man ever, I could go on and on of how amazing he is. This world is a cruel place too take such a wonderful man from it, a true loss.

"He was one in a million, one of a kind, no one was like him, his laugh, his smile, his stupid funny jokes, he just had a way with people, he could make the most miserable person laugh, all such unique quality's, he always made me smile and laugh."

A sea and coastal path search took place on the day he was reported missing Monday 8 February by police and Coastguard. Mr Reid is described as white, 5ft 8ins in height, of stocky build, with short greying spiked hair.

He was wearing black trousers, a white shirt and black jumper.

Inspector Jean Phillips, based in Penzance, said: “We are extremely concerned for Mike’s welfare, particularly with the wet and windy weather overnight. If anyone sees him in the area please get in touch.”

Anyone with information about Mike’s whereabouts is asked to call 999 quoting reference 106 of 8 February.
