Helston welcomed more than 230 runners dressed head to foot in red as Cornwall Hospice Care's Santa Fun Run came to town for the first time.

Santas of all ages, shapes and sizes braved a soggy Saturday morning, with some pushed in buggies and some four legged friends paraded through the city centre to raise funds for the charity.

Rose Beattie, events fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care, said: “We are thrilled with the turn out.

“This is the first year the Santa Series has come to Helston, and were overwhelmed with the response we had from the town. We would like to thank all of Team Santa, Helston Business Improvement Partnership for driving the event forward, Helston Bowling Club for hosting the event, Helston Town Council, Cornwall 4x4 Response, our army of volunteers, BBC Radio Cornwall, Jake Riding Photography and Tesco Helston, as well as the people who stopped to cheer our Santas through the town."

The Santa Fun Run in Helston, has already raised in excess of £7800 for Cornwall Hospice Care with more sponsorship money coming in daily. Overall the charities Santa Series of 11 runs in Cornwall is expected to raise £35,000.
