LIONEL Richie, the singer-songwriter, whose smash hits include Hello, Dancing on the Ceiling and All Night Long, will play at Eden as part of his All The Hits world tour on Tuesday, June 14. This will be Lionel’s first ever headline show in the South West and his first UK show since his legendary performance at Glastonbury.

With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, Lionel Richie is a global star and music icon with four Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Oscar to his name. He first found fame singing and writing songs with The Commodores, including the all-time classics Three Times A Lady, Stuck On You, Still, and Easy. After turning solo he became one of the most successful artists of the 1980s, earning a string of 13 top ten hits between 1981 and 1987, including nine number one singles such as Endless Love, Truly, and Say You (Say Me).

On the heels of the success of his Tuskegee album, in 2013 Lionel launched a global tour entitled All The Hits, All Night Long and he has proved to fans that he can deliver exactly that. A two-hour set spanning his entire catalogue of music has led to a fan frenzy and high praise from press around the world. Lionel has taken the tour to every part of the planet including Europe, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and North America.

He had chart success in the UK last year following his hugely popular performance to a crowd of 100,000 on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. He hit the number one spot yet again with his album The Definitive Collection.

Lionel said: “I had such a great time in the UK this year and I can’t wait to visit new places and meet new people. Performing at Glastonbury for the first time was such a thrill for me and given me an appetite to do new things in the UK. I know these shows are going to be very special.”

Eden Marketing Director Rita Broe said: “What a massive honour it is to announce that the legend Lionel Richie will headline at the Eden Sessions next summer! His 30 years of hits have been like a soundtrack to many of our lives. Hearing him perform those hits for the first time in Cornwall, against the backdrop of biomes, will be incredible – and what a way to start the Sessions season! Much dancing on the celling ahead!”

The Eden Sessions enter their fifteenth year in 2016. Last year saw the legendary Elton John play two consecutive headline shows. The other 2015 Eden Sessions were headlined by Paolo Nutini, Paloma Faith, Motorhead and Ben Howard.

The Eden Sessions has its own free-to-view online TV channel (www.youtube.com/edensessionstv) featuring regularly-updated videos of some of the gigs’ finest shows.

Eden's Inside Track club returns for 2016. Passes cost £15 and give holders the option to buy two tickets for each Eden Session seven days before they go on general sale.
