The Post Office is proposing to move its service in Grampound from the Old Town Hall to the village’s new community shop/café at the village store.

A 'hosted outreach service', whereby a nearby postmaster provides a service at set times each week, has been operating from the Old Town Hall in Fore Street, Grampound since March 2014.

However, the Post Office felt the community shop and café would be a better location for the outreach service. This move would be approximately 250 metres.

The same range of services as currently would be available.

A post office spokesman said: "The layout of the hosted service would ensure adequate room for our customers with easy access to our services. Access would be via a ramp and a wide door entrance and there is s free car park with disabled spaces.

Colin Pound, Field Change Advisor said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Grampound and we are confident this new service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six week public consultation.

Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal. Consultation will close on October 6. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline on 08457 22 33 44 or Textphone 08457 22 33 55.
