Andy Hocking's mother, Elizabeth O'Hagan, paid a special visit to St Mary's School in Falmouth last Wednesday when she was presented with a cheque for £101.50 which will go towards a public access defibrillator at Pendennis Point.
Keeping it in the family, the money was handed over by Elizabeth's grand-daughter, and Andy's niece, Anya, ten; along with Daisy, 11, who came up with the idea of donating the proceeds of the school's non-uniform day in Lent to the defibrillator appeal launched following Andy's death.
Headteacher Jacqui Scarborough said: "We were all saddened to hear about the sudden death of Andy Hocking, our neighbourhood community officer. He had a rare quality of making everyone feel that their issues were important and he valued all. As Andy was an ex St Mary’s pupil this seemed a most fitting tribute."
Elizabeth added: "I think this is marvellous. Andy would have loved it, he'd have been so proud and felt very special."
