ANTIQUES Roadshow expert Hilary Kay officially opened Falmouth Art Gallery's latest exhibition which celebrates the work of Rodney Peppe and features some of the town's best automata makers.
Rodney Peppé has been crafting handmade toys and automata since the 1970s and is the author of over 80 children’s books. He has also had numerous television series of his characters’ adventures, such as Huxley Pig and Angelmouse.
His toys, models, artwork and automata are displayed alongside a large selection of working automata from Falmouth’s collection.
Falmouth Art Gallery holds the country’s largest public collection of contemporary automata. Many of these, including a brand new commission by Carlos Zapata, are on display. Turn the handles and be amazed.
Rodney Peppé: Astonishing Automata and Marvellous Machines can be seen until September 12. Falmouth Art Gallery is open from 10am until 5pm, Monday to Saturday and admission free. For information on the exhibition contact Donna Williams on 01326 313863 or info@falmouthartgallery.com
