AN epic bike ride and a leisurely, but fairly lengthy, walk are two of the latest fundraisers for little Stanley Barnes, whose family are trying to make life as comfortable and stimulating as possible for the youngster as he battles a rare and terminal illness.

The first of these is a 200 mile bike ride which is being organised by Robin Fearnley, a close friends of the Barnes family and Godfather to Stanley's sister, Willow. He and a group of friends plan to set off from Maritime House in Bristol at 3pm on Friday and are expected to arrive at the Mission to Seafarers' centre at Falmouth Docks between 9am and 10am on Saturday.

A welcoming committee will be on hand to cheer them over the finish line, but anyone else who fancies showing their support is encouraged to turn up and join the supporters. As of yesterday, Robin had raised £1,996 of his £2,000 target through his GoFundMe webpage.

A week later, on Saturday, June 6, people are being encouraged to take part in Walk it for Stanley - a sponsored walk being led by walkitcornwall which will take participants from outside the Ferryboat Inn on the Helford, along the coastpath to end at the Falmouth Watersports Centre. The walkers will set off at 9am and aim to be at the finish line at about 3pm.

For those who don't feel able to complete the 10 mile walk, there will also be a chance to join at Seahorses at Maenporth at about 12.30pm and again at Gyllyngvase beach at about 2pm. At the end of the walk there will be a raffle which has attracted prizes from Flambards, Elemental, NV Hairdressing, Weston Goya, Pamela Charlton Beauty Therapy, Black Byrne Karate, Bubblegum Hairdressing with more still coming in. Any other businesses or individuals who would like to donate a prize should contact Andrena Head through Stanley's events page on Facebook and anyone who'd like to make a donation can do so at http://www.gofundme.com/u9zef4.
