A petition asking Penryn Town Council to revoke its decision to prioritise College Valley as a site for development is due to be discussed at the council’s meeting on Monday evening.

The petition, which has so far gathered over 1,800 signatures online, will be debated by the full council when they meet in the Temperance Hall at 7pm.

The public are welcome to attend, but anyone wishing to speak should contact the town clerk by 5pm on January 29.

The petition states that Penryn Town Council were given two sites based on evidence presented to them by Cornwall Council to chose from as a priority site for the development of 200 houses.

These were North Penryn, (Treluswell), and South Penryn, (College Valley),

Adding: "They have chosen to prioritise College Valley. We believe this is not the site for a development of this size and will not only put an overwhelming burden on an already stressed infrastructure but irreversible damage to this beautiful landscape and wildlife, as well as destroy a fundamental part of the town’s history and its largest and last remaining greenbelt.
