A van driver from Helston who was twice the legal drink drive limit has been disqualified for 12 months.

Timothy John Hawkins, from Park-an-Harvey, pleaded guilty to driving a white Mercedes Vito van at Clodgey Lane on November 4 last year while over the legal alcohol limit.

The 51-year-old had 76 micrograms of alcohol in every 100 millilitres of his breath – the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £200 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.
