Pupils from Penryn College had an emotional reunion with a group of current and former cancer sufferers as they marked the launch of a charity calendar.

The students were joined by a group of women who had posed as models for next year’s Made for Life calendar, which the children had helped to produce.

The children invited the models, who they had previously helped photograph, and had interviewed for the project, to see the finished work, while the students were also presented with certificates for all their efforts.

Wendy Everhard, the manager of Made for Life, said: “The children did really well, considering their age.

“They had never done anything like this. They had to deal with people who have overcome cancer or are going through cancer.

“For some of them [the launch] was really emotional.”

She said the models also enjoyed the evening: “Some of them hadn’t seen it.

“They had seen their own page but not seen the full calendar made up. Some of them were quite emotional about seeing the final product.”

A video was played showing the children and models at work during the calendar production, when the students had provided hair and makeup services, set up photographs, and “ran around doing everything for everybody.” They had also asked businesses for props in preparation for the shoot.

Made for Life, the charity which supports cancer sufferers in association with Truro’s Spiezia Organics, sold around 30 calendars during the evening.

They are now on sale from Spiezia in Truro, the Mermaid Centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Angels Nail Studio in Helston, and the Corner Deli in Porthleven, as well as online at http://www.spieziaorganics.com/spiezia-shop/made-for-life.html.
