Two dogs are believed to have been lost at sea after being swept away by a large wave on Porthleven Beach last week.

It is understood that their owner jumped into the sea in a bid to rescue them and had to be pulled out by some builders who were working on the Blue Buoy Steps nearby.

A third dog is thought to have been unharmed in the incident.

Last Friday an appeal went out on the internet social networking site Facebook, calling for people to look out for the body of one of the dogs and appealing for the public’s help in finding the vets where the body of the second dog – which was thought to have been recovered – may have been taken.
