A TV presenter whose love of Cornwall saw her make a TV series promoting the Falmouth and Helston area has died from cancer.

Lynda Bellingham, 66, died in her husband’s arms yesterday, 15 months after being diagnosed with cancer.

She has spoken publicly about her decision to stop treatment, to limit the amount of suffering her family would have to see.

Lynda was a much-loved figure in Cornwall, whose travels to Falmouth, Gweek and Porthleven in a vintage campervan were documented in her TV series My Tasty Travels in 2012.

Each episode saw her tackling a different food challenge, in places that make Britain special.

During her visit to Falmouth Lynda not only put her hand to making pasties, but also took part in Falmouth Carnival dressed as a moose.

Writing on their Facebook page today, a spokesperson for Falmouth Marine Band said: “Very saddened to hear the news of Lynda.

“She came and joined in the Falmouth Carnival with us dressed as a moose when we did the Canadian Mounties outfit. We had a fantastic laugh with her and she made a huge pasty at Charlie Choak's for us all.

“Truly a super lady who will be very missed. RIP Lynda Bellingham from all at the Falmouth Marine Band Cornwall xxx”

In a different episode, Lynda put in an appearance at Gweek Silver Band’s Gala Week, where she auctioned the first slices of hog roast at the festival.

She also visited the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek and took a trip to Porthleven to meet some artists.

The culinary challenge saw her making a fish pie back in Gweek.
