New Fal River Guides printed as demand spikes

First published in Cornwall

For the first time ever, extra copies of the Fal River Guide have been ordered to cope with demand.

The publication, which had an original print run of 130,000 copies, was launched by Fal River Cornwall in April and was distributed around the area. But, only four months on there are only 20,000 copies left with around 5,000 copies a week still be sought by visitors.

Mike Zuczkowski, Fal River distribution manager, said: “We knew the guides were flying off the shelves this year but the fact we needed to arrange a reprint has still come as a surprise. It's a real testament to the popularity of the Fal River area.

“Hundreds of thousands of visitors will be descending on Falmouth this week for Falmouth Week and soon after for the Tall Ships Regatta. The guide will be an invaluable resource for them and so the team want to make sure there are enough to go round.”

Michael Sweeney, communications manager at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, said: “The Fal River Guide really is the indispensable guide to what's on and where it's at along the Fal River.

“If it's happening in this area, it's in the guide and the Maritime Museum is proud to be a part of this fantastic resource for locals and visitors alike. The fact that the guide is proving so popular is great news and testament to the hard work that Fal River Cornwall do in getting the word out there.”

Barbara Sadler, owner of the Roseland's multi-award winning Roundhouse Barn Holidays added: “We're delighted that demand for the guide has been so high. After a slow start to the season following the storms, it's great that the Fal River team are doing such a good job promoting not only Falmouth tourism businesses, but also those of us on the gorgeous Roseland as well.”

The free Fal River Cornwall guide is available from tourist information offices, key attractions such as the Maritime Museum and from many shops, restaurants and accommodation providers in the area.
